Coats & Clark’s Studio Card No. 1, “Hot Pants to Knit & Crochet, 35c”, early 1970s. // Although the mini skirt was out of fashion in the 1970s, “hot pants” were popular among the young and daring. These extremely brief shorts were worn in all seasons, paired with colored tights in the winter, and came in many fabric and textile options. Pictured above is an at-home sewing pattern for crocheted hot pants, a very popular knitting method of the 1970s.
